Seollal 설날 Coloring Sheet for Toddlers

by Cleo from COREALL on February 14, 2026

I started using design tools to create my own Lunar New Year coloring sheets after noticing that the ones we received from the library were labeled “Lunar New Year,” yet featured only Chinese lanterns. While beautiful, I wanted something that more specifically reflected Korean culture and the traditions of 설날 in a way that felt intentional and authentic.

So in this version, the title is 설날 (Seollal – Korean New Year’s Day), and instead of Chinese lanterns, I included 청사초롱 (traditional Korean lanterns) along with children dressed in 한복, Korea’s beautiful traditional clothing, and two 까치 (magpies), which are deeply symbolic of this holiday.

The magpie holds a special place in Korean New Year tradition, even appearing in the beloved children’s song:

“까치 까치 설날은 어저께고요
우리 우리 설날은 오늘이래요.”

By the way, you’ll also notice that 청사초롱 appears in the gift box design for my two flashcard sets. I love incorporating meaningful Korean cultural elements throughout my materials, and the traditional lantern felt like the perfect detail to tie everything together beautifully and intentionally!

I’ve attached the PDF version here, and you’re welcome to download and use it for personal use. I hope it brings a little extra cultural joy and learning to your celebration!
